How do I enter non-printable characters from the keyboard in LabWindows/CVI?

Solution

You can enter a non-printable character, such as NULL, from the keyboard into LabWindows/CVI by entering the character's decimal ASCII code. To send an ASCII character from the keyboard to the character buffer, you must type
<Alt-the decimal ASCII code>

For example, the decimal ASCII code for the ÷ symbol is 247. To enter this symbol from the keyboard, type
<Alt-247>.
Notice that you will see 247 in LabWindows/CVI's Variables window.

If you need a list of the decimal codes, see this list of ASCII codes.
