I have a C series digital input module like the NI-9411. Can I use this for counter applications, like reading a quadrature encoder?

Solution

Yes. Some digital input modules support specialty digital configurations for use in Scan Interface mode on the CompactRIO (cRIO). This can also be achieved on the FPGA, as seen in this example document.
