Issue Details

I am making a distribution for a simple application written in LabWindows/CVI. After creating and building my distribution, the output directory seems excessively large. How can I decrease the size of my distribution?

Solution

In the process of configuring a distribution, you need to specify dependencies which must be included for your application to run. This is done in the Edit Installer dialog box, which can be reached by clicking on Build»Distributions»Manage Distributions... either creating a new Distribution or editing your existing one, and going to the Drivers & Components tab.

LabWindows/CVI automatically selects components that it has identified as a dependency for your project. Sometimes, however, LabWindows/CVI may select sub-components which are not necessary for your application.

If you can determine that your application does not need a certain component, you can deselect it to make your distribution smaller. For example, if your application does not use real-time functions, you can deselect Real-Time Utility Support to dramatically decrease the size of your distribution.
