Issue Details

I'm sending voltage to one of the Analog Input channels on my DAQ device but am seeing a higher measurement than expected. I'm seeing this measurement across multiple channels even though I'm only applying voltage to one channel.

Solution

Unexpectedly high voltage readings across multiple channels indicate your signal may be floating, and should be grounded. For instructions on how to ground your signal, see the Grounding Guide for Test and Measurement Devices.

If trends of one channel are reflected in multiple channels, you are seeing ghosting. See the document How Do I Eliminate Ghosting from My Measurements for more information on ghosting and how to eliminate it.
