Issue Details

I am using the DAQ Assistant or a DAQmx task to read data from a simulated device for testing purposes. My task includes a custom scale. However, my custom scale doesn't seem to be doing anything - the data looks the same with and without the scale. Is this expected behavior? Am I doing something wrong with my scale?

Solution

This is expected behavior. While simulated hardware allows you to apply a scale, this scale will not actually affect your values until you use real hardware. Simulated hardware will output a noisy sine wave of a certain amplitude, and this amplitude cannot be changed. Simulated hardware is only meant to test that a certain hardware setup will run without error - the values generated cannot be manipulated.
