Issue Details

I am trying to deploy my application using the Shared Variable Engine and am getting the following error. My application worked when I last ran it, but the error suddenly occurred today.

Error -2147220727
The client process cannot communicate with the configuration server process. If this problem persists please note the steps you performed that led to this error and contact technical support.

Solution

This error can occur for a number of reasons and has been resolved in the past by restarting the Shared Variable Engine (SVE). Complete the following steps to stop and start the SVE manually.
  1. In the Windows Control Panel, navigate to the Administrative Tools folder.
  2. Double-click the Services shortcut to display the Services utility.
  3. Right-click National Instruments Variable Engine in the Name list and select Stop or Start from the shortcut menu to stop or start the SVE, respectively.
Note: If you stop and restart the SVE, LabVIEW restarts all previously running I/O processes.

You also can stop and start the SVE by using the NI Distributed System Manager. Select Action»Stop Shared Variable Engine or Action»Start Shared Variable Engine to stop or start the SVE respectively.

If you do not have to use a specific computer and have another computer, try to copy the whole project and program on this other computer and run it.

If you are still encountering this error, contact NI Support at ni.com/support.
