How To Activate a Debug License

Issue Details

I purchased a debug license. Where do I download the debug version of the software for installation? There are only full versions of products available for download on the NI website.

Solution

When you purchase a debug license, the license allows you to install and activate an additional copy of NI software that you already have the full development version for. The differentiation will happen in the activation, not in the installation, so you can still use the same installation files as for the full product version.

Activation can happen as part of installation using the Activation Wizard, or after installation from NI License Manager.

If you purchased a LabWindows™/CVI Development System (either Base or Full), when you activate your debug license, select the Full version of LabWindows/CVI. If you purchased a debug license for TestStand (Debug Deployment), select the option for TestStand.

Remember to use the serial number of the debug license, it also will indicate the license version that you have access to. 

Note: If you use the Auto Activate option, the NI Activation Wizard will automatically activate the correct product and install the correct activation code for that product on your computer.

For TestStand Debug Deployment License Users:

The TestStand debug deployment license also allows you to debug code in the LabVIEW and LabWindows/CVI development environment. 
For TestStand 3.1 and earlier, once you activate your TestStand debug license, you should be able to use the LabVIEW and LabWindows/CVI development environments with no further activation necessary. However, the versions of LabWindows/CVI an LabVIEW that will activate are limited to the versions available on the TestStand version release date. For example, a TestStand 3.1 debug deployment license will only activate LabVIEW 7.1 and earlier, and LabWindows/CVI 7.1 and earlier. If you need to use a new version of LabWindows/CVI or LabVIEW with an older version of TestStand using the debug deployment license, please contact NI support. 

For TestStand 3.5, each product (TestStand, LabWindows/CVI, and LabVIEW) must be individually activated using the TestStand debug deployment serial number in order to receive the functionality for that product. In this case, you can activate any versions of LabWindows/CVI and LabVIEW. If you use the NI Auto Activate option, and the NI Activation Wizard will automatically activate TestStand, as well as the latest versions of LabVIEW and LabWindows/CVI installed on your machine.
