Issue Details

I'm currently using NI Motion Device in my RT PXI System.
How do I use setting that are stored in the local configuration with a device that is in a remote computer?

Solution

Before you can configure a motion controller on a remote computer, you must first map it to your local computer. MAX will then add the motion controller to your local Devices and Interfaces category. After the device is mapped, you can use it like any other motion controller connected to your computer.

Complete the following steps to use local device configuration settings on a remote device.

1. Map the motion device to local machine that you would like to use by right-clicking a remote motion device, selecting Map to local machine like Figure 1

2. Export the settings that you would like to use to a file by right-clicking a local device, selecting Initialization Setting»Export Setting, and saving the file to a temporary location like Figure 2.

3. Import the settings to the remote device by right-clicking the mapped device and selecting Initialization Settings»Import Settings. Browse to the file that you exported in the first step and click Open.

4. In the Change Setting dialog box, select the imported settings and click Change.
