Issue Details

  • How can I use an NI C Series Motion module in my CompactDAQ (cDAQ)?
  • Can I use one of the Motor Drive modules (NI 9501, NI 9502, NI 9503, NI 9505) in my cDAQ chassis?
  • Can I use a C Series Motor Drive Interface module (NI 9512, NI 9514, NI 9516) in a cDAQ chassis?

Solution

National Instrument C Series Motor Drive modules and Motor Drive Interface modules must be used in a RIO-based system. These include CompactRIO (cRIO), an EtherCAT RIO, or an Ethernet RIO device. These modules will not work with in a CompactDAQ (cDAQ).

Additional Information

You can refer to the C Series Module Compatibility Chart to determine if a particular C Series module is compatible with the platform you are interested in using.

If you need to use a CompactDAQ system, you can see compatible LabVIEW SoftMotion configurations for Real-Time systems on the SoftMotion Compatibility with LabVIEW Real Time Controllers page.
