Issue Details

I'm using a USB-8502 to transmit data over a CAN bus. When performing the loopback test, I don't see any errors, but I can't see anything on the bus monitor. I'm using an RS-232 cable, is this the proper cable to use?

Solution

No, a CAN connection must have a cable terminated with the proper resistor values depending on the type of CAN network (High/Low Speed, Fault-Tolerant). Please refer to the CAN Physical Layer and Termination Guide for more information on network termination.
