Issue Details

I have access to LabVIEW through a Volume License Agreement (VLA). I am planning to run a LabVIEW program continuously for 30 days. If the NI Volume License Manager (VLM) server goes down during this 30 days, will the program stop? How does LabVIEW (or other NI software) connect to the server?

Solution

NI software will look to the VLM server upon launching. Once the software verifies its access from the server it will remain activated as the program remains running on your computer. Therefore running a program for an extended period of time will not be affected.

Additional Information

If the VLM server is inaccessible upon launching your NI software, the user may or may not have access depending on their license type. Here is more information regarding what happens when NI Volume License Manager is inaccessible.
